It had been a couple months since Jay and Jeb had run off to... Where it was with a complete stranger and the twins powers had manifested. Liz had been worried sick about her brothers, more so about Jay because he still hadn't work up. Jeb had been her main concern for a while because he was her twin after all, but the worry had quickly worn away to anger.

She was furious with her twin.

"C'mon Jeb, jus' show meh already," She demanded for what was probably the hundreth time since he'd gotten the bandages off. Liz had made him come out on the ground where there wasn't anyone around. "Yew've seen mine... Th' whole school has seen mine..." She groused. Liz had burst out of her clothes so much that it barely phased her to be left in her bicycle shorts and sports bra.

It was nice enough outside that Liz was dressed in cut off denim shorts and a pink tank top with a caticorn on it. She hadn't bothered with shoes, her feet were toughened from years of running bare foot on the farm. "There ain't anyone out here t'see us..." She pestered him, turning back towards him on the trail they'd been walking down in the woods around the school.

Even if she was glad he was better and wanted to see Jeb's powers, Liz was still mad he'd run off with Jay without telling her. Without her. He'd promised that he wouldn't leave her behind again after their fight Jeb going off to room with Jay without telling her... This was even worse because both of her brothers had got hurt. After she saw his powers, then Liz was going to start in on him leaving her.

Jeb wasn’t an idiot, he was a bit of a geek, he tended to trust too easily and he could be a bit hard on himself but he wasn’t an idiot; he knew that Liz was made at him call it twin telepathy or just common sense but he knew. It didn’t surprise him because he had broken his promise, he had left her behind again and since he hadn’t explained what had happened to him and Jay to anyone feigning confusion and amnesia over the whole thing till he had a chance to confer with Jay because after all the whole incident with Logan had started out of the need to keep quiet about Jay and Jeb sneaking out to go to Jay’s band performances. He knew he could trust Liz, he could always trust Liz and the only reason he hadn’t told her about everything before they left was because it had all happened so fast, he made that deal with Logan and then they were off to Israel.

Jeb had been heavily conflicted about telling Liz, he wanted to tell her because they told each other everything but he couldn’t betray Jay’s trust when Jeb was the reason he was laying in a coma; he already felt guilty enough about the whole situation and sleeping in a room with Jay’s empty bed only served to remind him of what he had done. Yet he also felt guilty for lying to Liz which is how he found himself outside on a rather gloriously sunny day wearing denim shorts and a red tank top, it was days like this that back at the farm they would have been hard at work doing the various chores needed to keep a farm running smoothly but that wasn’t why they were out here now. Ever since Liz had found out he had manifested his powers she had been asking to see them, he could understand their excitement especially since they had spent a lot of time back home testing each other to see if they had mutant abilities but things were different now.

To be perfectly honest Jeb was rather scared of his powers, he had never felt pain like that before when that blue jet of energy had rushed from his eyes; it had felt like someone had stabbed red hot pokers into his eyes only to pull them out to repeat the process. Plus the fact he had only used his power twice so far: once at the temple where he had pretty much totalled the place but also when the doctors had awoken him, he woke up to find himself in one of the training rooms his head being held in place so that he was pointed towards a target, they had done this because the last person who had an ability like his wasn’t able to turn it off and they didn’t want to risk Jeb blasting a hole through the building when he first opened his eyes.

He knew he was going to have to show Liz eventually because Liz was not the kind of girl to give up which is why he allowed her to drag him here to the outskirts of the mansion grounds, ”Okay okay, Ah’ll show ya” He said, caving to his twin’s demands. ”Just stay back, yeah?” He asked, not wanting to hurt Liz in his attempt to show her his powers. He scanned his surroundings looking for something he could demonstrate upon which wouldn’t be missed, he spotted a tree which looked to be in the process of dying and figured it would have to do.

He took off the black sunglasses that he had been given by the infirmary, his eyes were still pretty sensitive and while he was mostly okay in the mansion outside in the bright sunshine it still stung. Jeb wasn’t at the point that he could just point and shoot but he knew what he’d been feeling when it happened the first time and he figured he would just have to repeat the process. He stared at the tree intently feeling that buzzing that emanated from somewhere behind his eyes, it was a strange sensation to put into words. He thought about Jay, about all that blood and that lifeless grey that had spread over his skin, all those feathers that lay scattered across the room like he’d been plucked.

From an outside observer they would be able to see the blue aura that started to radiate around Jeb’s eyes, it seemed to crackle like an electrical field as if Jeb had suddenly been plugged in. It had happened so fast last time that he didn’t notice the smaller things that were going on, like the way he could feel the hairs on his arms begin to stand on end, the thick smell of ozone that started to permeate the air as well as the warmness that started to pool behind each eye like someone had turned on a warm tap and the water was collecting in his head. He knew in that instant that it was up to him to decide what happened with the energy building in his eyes: he could let it fade, continue to build or unleash it; and suffice to say he unleashed it.

The sizzling sound of lightning snapped through the air as a ray of blue lightning-like plasma shot through the space between Jeb and the tree, the environment became a wash with a blue hue as the laser arced in a straight line towards the tree. It struck the tree in a shower of splinters and a smell of burnt wood, as soon as the beam struck Jeb got hit with the recoil and went flying backwards off his feet like he had done in the temple. When he landed on his back the impact jolted his head upwards and that’s how the tree suddenly became split from the middle upwards, the ground was now covered in small remnants of wood from the raining confetti the tree had been reduced too. He clapped his eyes shut as soon as he could, the energy cut off and began to dissipate. He tugged his shades back on, a headache and a biting pain in his eyes already beginning to form, it was nice to know that he wouldn’t be reduced to a sobbing mess every time he used his powers and he hoped that with more time all the pain would fade.

He stayed where he sat on the ground, ignoring the tears which he knew could be seen running down his face from both the pain but also the fact his eyes seemed to be watering quite intensely from the heat of the beam. ”What do ya think?” He asked, looking up at his twin.

She barely resisted a 'well finally when Jeb agreed to show her his powers, but it was a near thing. Liz's already short fuse had gotten shorter over the past few months from the stress of manifesting her powers and worrying over her brothers... Not to mention Jeb being stupid and not telling her what happened with him and Jay. That really upset her. Like a lot. She hadn't talked to him for several days after one refusal and left Jeb's care to her siblings and mother while Liz had stayed in her room when her stupid roommate wasn't there or outside when she was.

Liz was just... Really hurt and that hurt had quickly fizzled into anger. She'd definitely said some things she shouldn't have, but they'd apologized and were okay for the moment. Liz was still hurt and angry, but was willing to squash it to get to see Jeb's powers.

"Okay..." She agreed to stay back, but not too far back. Liz stood more beside him just a few feet away, watching with growing anticipation, too excited for her anger to do more than fizzle. Blue eyes were intent as she watched her twin pull off his glasses and the air around them charge with static blue light. Liz privately thought this was a lot cooler than her powers before the beam of blue light shot from her brother's eyes.

Yep, that was definitely cooler than her powers.

Right up until it threw Jeb off his feet to the ground and the beam split the tree vertically. "Jeb? Yew awlright?" Lizzy was asking as soon as the light cut off, instantly on her knees at Jeb's side and touching his shoulder. Any anger with her twin was forgotten at the sight of tears trickling down his cheeks. Her own face crumpled a bit, hating that he was in pain using his powers. Jeb's question got a watery laugh as she ran a hand comfortingly over his hair, "Ah think yers look cooler than mine." Liz told him with a smile. "Does it hurt e'ry time yew use'em? Or as bad as th' first time?" Were her curious questions as she wiped at his tears and gave his shoulder a comforting squeeze. Even as mad as Liz was at Jeb for leaving her behind again and getting hurt, she hated seeing him in pain and had to comfort him however she could.

Jeb looked up at his sister through his black shades, he ignored the ache emanating from his optic nerve and the headache starting to build inside his head. Jeb would be lying if he said that his new power wasn’t impressive but he didn’t understand why it had to hurt so much, none of his other siblings got hurt like this from their powers so why him? Just another reason to hold distaste for his powers, that and the fact that they weren’t enough to save Jay.

”Yeah Ah’m fine, just stin’s” He was glad that Liz seemed to care still because after all the lying he had no choice but to do recently he was seriously worried about ruining their relationship for she was after all the most important person in his life. ”Mine might be flashier but yors has more uses, all Ah can do is shoot thin’s from ah distance” Liz could grow in size to great proportions, she could pick up things and throw them like they weighed nothing and clear a car in a single bound yet all he could do was destroy some crazy ass temple and nearly lose his brother.

”Hurt e’ry time Ah’ve used ‘em so far but Ah guess it ain’t as th’ first time” Jeb answered with a sullen tone, after all his wishing for a mutant power so that he could just be like his siblings and he ended up with this; why couldn’t he have wings or be able to grow in size. ”Th’ Docs said it might hurt for ah while, my eyes ain’t used to channelin’ so much energy but that it should get better with time” Jeb was glad that it might get better however mostly he wished he just wouldn’t end up on his ass every time he used his power.

He looked up at Liz as he asked: ”Can Ah see yours?”

Liz hated that Jeb's powers pained him, especially when they looked so cool... It probably wasn't the best thing to be focusing on but as much as she hated her powers it's what the blonde focused on. She grimaced at Jeb trying to make her powers out to sound better and shook her head, "Doubt it... Ah cain't even control when the stupid thing works" Was her growled answered, disagreeing with her twin.

"Th' doctors here prolly know what they're talkin' 'bout don'cha think? Ah mean, they gotta deal w'th a lot o'freaky stuff an' all o'us are different..." Lizzy tried for comforting but there was still a bitter note over how much she didn't like her powers. She was jealous Jeb seemed to be able to control when his turned on and off at least, Liz couldn't even do that. Sam was supposed to be getting her something to help but she hadn't got it yet... She wasn't sure when she would honestly. She'd been doing pretty good lately but anytime Liz even felt like she might go giant she focused solely on staying normal. Part of her couldn't believe the two of them had tried to get their powers to show up...

She grimaced at Jeb's question, crossing her arms and sitting back. "How have yew missed seein' 'em? Ah've only left holes in half th' ceilin's here," Liz snapped, glaring at Jeb for a long moment before her brow furrowed up. "Yew... Yew really ain't seen...?" Se wanted to know.
