Some time ago Zachariah Stanton one of the younger members of the X-Men had approached the Co-Headmaster of the Xavier Institute. While he could not outright approve what the young man had requested that did not mean he couldn't help him make his thoughts into a viable option. The conversation had pointed out a single thing, while the mansion grounds worked well for training in regards to a great many things and the Danger room was useful for other various things... it did not offer the same things that the actual world did. Especially in regards to survival training. So he had asked permission to create a controlled wilderness environment... or at least a semi controlled one. Scott offered the young man his night forgotten cabin and the pair had began working.

Their first task had been to update the cabin... not to much changing the outside of it but adding a hidden substructure that would allow a person to observe much of the surroundings using various technology created and used by the X-Men over the years. Scott had also used the influence of the Institute to expand the usable area to an amount that reached to nearly 100 square acres upon a mountain side. From what Zach had shown him their were old mining caves in a few places along with a few streams and rivers and even a small mountain lake.

This did not discount from the wild berried and animals that made the region suitable for what Zach wanted. For the moment Scott was sitting outside waiting. He had been putting on a few final touches as he waited for Emma to arrive glancing at the bigger cabins that sat facing each other perpendicular to the cabin that had once been Scott's but was now much more. The perpendicular cabins had a door on each end and another in the middle. This allowed for two rooms at either end for teachers and then a room in between for students to share with bunks and storage for the students within. One was meant obviously for the boys and the other for the Girls. Their was no running water or power though Scott had a small power source put in to run the tech that would keep the location safe... just nothing for modern amenities.

He couldn't help but think that it was a place that Emma was distinctly not suited for and yet their Scott stood under the spring sun an Axe in hand a sheen of sweat along his arms as he added to the pile of fire wood for the wood cook stove was tucked between the main cabin and the boys cabin. Their were also a few picnic tables and all the cabins had wood stoves and stone hearths and chimneys to ensure they would not burn to the ground.

Hearing the sound of an engine and the crunching of Gravel Scott glanced up to see a vehicle arriving to what Zach had come to call. The Xavier Institute Survival Testing Camp or XIST Camp... But taking into account the small lake behind his own cabin he felt that it could a fun place to get out of the mansion in general... if Emma approved of it that was... and assuming other members of staff would be willing to help run it when It was to be used.

When Scott came to her with the idea to create a ‘controlled survival course’ and she had even a moment to stare icily at the new excuse to be away for a long period of time, Emma gave him a shrug and practically shooed him off with a dismissive wave of her polished nails. Running the school took her full attention because, Scott wasn’t nearly as organized and she wasn’t nearly as apt to…outdoor survival it would seem. Emma had given up hope that sense would come of whatever was between them quite some time ago. She’d run off on him once…a long time ago…and he made an insistent habit of doing it every few months. He’d asked her to be co-administrator, but she wished when he’d said ‘he needed her’ that she hadn’t misunderstood him then. The students and their education and safety certainly matter great volumes to the woman, but any great teacher worth anything could do the job she was doing. Beast, Storm, Nightcrawler, all of them had the drive to do what she did. Scott didn’t need her…and Rogue had made it pretty clear that none of the X-men really did. It was a wonder someone hadn’t walked into her office and told her to pack up and get out.

Months later when she got the unexpected call from someone at the site Scott and Zachariah Stanton were at to have it checked out and personally approved, a very confused Emma Frost hung up and set her clerical agent in her place for the moment. She would have sent the boar but he’d been missing now for almost a month and it was Emma’s understanding that this wasn’t uncommon behavior for him. She briefly considered sending Alex out to deal with his brother’s aspirations instead but even she wasn’t so cruel to send a father from his toddler to inspect a ‘survival camp.’ Alex didn’t owe her any favors, and he’d have made it clear she was sure. If she wanted something done right she supposed it was best to do it herself.

The traveling was tedious but her office watched for the moment, Emma eventually made it to the site, assured over the phone that it was remote enough. The chances that she’d be discovered on the trip were unlikely. Perhaps it would have done her good to get out of the mansion. In truth she could care less for any of it. She was already angry at herself for agreeing to come. She could have easily dispatched anyone to look it over, but she came. That wasn’t the worst of it. It was the reason she’d come. Why couldn’t she just forget about it? Nothing had the power to hurt her the way he did? Why couldn’t she put her foot down and rise above all this ridiculousness. Dressed in white fur and tassles and more modestly than she usually was, Emma Frost emerged from the shelter of the vehicle that brought her up the mountain path and her eyes settled on him. Before she could even help it, her features softened. She blinked and looked elsewhere eyeing the cabins in the area.

Emma Frost, was to one Scott Summers the single most vexing and beautiful woman currently upon the face of this earth... Though he would be daft to actually admit such a thing to the woman. She was not the type that you simply let in with such a weakness... though she was that for him he could at least admit to himself. It was why he hoped she would come up rather than one of the other X-Men. This could be good for the school, teacher and student alike could benefit from a place other than the mansion that was at least somewhat safe.

It was warm the air crisp and fresh, the smells of smog and pollution far from drifting to the pristine landscape. It looked like nothing more than a summer camp for kids. For a place to get away from the School and be kids but more than that, it offered a unique experience the mansion did not. So far from the city and the world at large most cellphones and other technology simply did not connect. That was not to say that none of them did, rather the X-Men's phones were all rather unique in that they did not use standard technology as much of them were built and upgraded by Forge or other Technology experts and their system worked perfectly up here to maintain a seamless link to the school.

Resting for a moment he glanced as the car finally arrived the blonde beauty finally arriving to this a forgotten hideaway in the forest away from prying eyes and lingering judgments. She was dressed modestly, for her, which in all honestly did not mean much as she still showed skin and that rare beauty that many sought but few could attain. A confidence and grace that let one know that she was a force. He watched her for a moment before slamming resting the axe against one of the rounds of firewood.

“Good Afternoon Emma, I trust that you enjoyed the drive?”

Stupid question, she did have that effect on him... case in point that he ran from her and ended up running into their in ground pool where they had been staying... that had not been... well that part had been fun... he could not deny that he had thought about that more than he cared to admit. He also could not deny that he missed that moment that time that everything else went away and it was just the two of them... That place had been magical... and now once more they were alone in the middle of nowhere and this time their was a lake rather than a pool.

“Last time we were alone like this I think I ran into a pool fully clothed...”

He tried to remember if that was in fact the last time they had gone someplace that was not the mansion or school related. Again though he was not sure he should have mentioned that.

As she stood there before him with the backdrop of nature all around her save for the vehicle she’d ridden up in, dressed in all of the finery that made her feel the woman she was, the pragmatic confidence that was her name, her brand even, Emma Frost felt utterly bare. Though Emma could not truly read Scott Summer’s mind unless her let her, like with anyone else, the occasional surface thought would come out in whispers especially when one’s thoughts were zeroed in, and for that moment, Scott was truly considering her. Concepts like ‘vexing’ and ‘rarity’ skittered through the air, and what she would give to hear him speak his true thoughts on her. Inner thoughts weren’t always someone’s truth. They weren’t a true reflection of someone because our thoughts move so very quickly. For that moment though, she’d enchanted him. Too little too late she had to decide. Emma didn’t have the capacity to deal with this very un-Scott-like flightiness he’d been displaying.

He asked her feelings on the drive and she spared him a blink with full lashes to cut through her icy stare on him. ”It was fine.” what else could she honestly said about it? It wasn’t fine. It was a mess, lots of backroads and ducking down into the back seat to keep from attention being too drawn to her. She was still a wanted woman afterall. His next spoken words gave her slightly wide eyed pause, her lips pursing a bit. She drew in a breath a bit shocked that he would even bring out such a can of worms like that unless he was hoping she would throw him in that lake back there herself.

”There are only so many daylight hours left, darling, perhaps you should show me what you have called me here to see.” she advised him evenly, though her chest was swelling in her effort to keep her frustration at bay.

Some times he forgot that she did not always do small talk and it seemed more often than not she wanted little to none of it with him... which was part of why he simply didn't bother any more at times. He cared about the woman and yet she was not the type that would allow the thoughts that Cyclops often had she was not the settle down type of woman. Scott had always been the guy that regardless of what was happening or what he did their was always a piece of him that wanted to settle down and have kids... Emma was not that kind of person... even the idea of her as a mom was something not even imaginable and yet she did great with the students and the school at large. Though she was a business woman at heart... Scott was a warrior a soldier a leader in the field of battle and sitting in an office working on paperwork had never sat well with him... he was a man of action... which was why he had volunteered his cabin and worked to acquire the land rights to the properties around it.

”There are only so many daylight hours left, darling, perhaps you should show me what you have called me here to see.”

He guessed that his attempt at something lighthearted had failed due to her tone. She was in all business mode then and nothing short of a miracle would break her of that... though Scott had in general probably gotten through that more than most people that did not mean he was able to get her to have fun at the drop of a dime. So he turned to look at the cabins and the surroundings. He was suddenly not so sure as to why he had asked her to join him, this was not the kind of place for her... Logan would have enjoyed it and any number of others would have enjoyed the views that the property had.

“You really are seeing most of it right now, 100 square acres, of forest mountainside, lakes, rivers, caves and whatever else the countryside has to offer... This is the base camp and the main cabin has a control room that is linked to the mansion and uses many of the same sensors as the mansion to keep and eye on the perimeter though it also includes a jamming system to keep things from seeing what is in this area. Meaning that this property with a few X-Men on site is ideal for a summer camp for students that can't go home but still want out of the mansion for a little while... and also for survival students to actually attempt to use what they have learned someplace other than a backyard camp out behind the mansion.”

It was the idea at least and it was stupidly simple, in regards to what the goal had been... kids still needed a chance to be kids and a camp for them to get out of the school for a week or two was bound to be a good thing for the students or so Scott thought... though with Emma you never really knew... she was better at schooling her emotions from people and Scott had to practice it against people that could read his thoughts... though had she actively tried to read his mind who knew what she would learn or what she would do with that.

When he evidently realized that Emma wasn’t remotely interested in the drivel that was his poor attempt at flirting with her in greeting, she couldn’t help but feel strangely disappointed. He hadn’t even given her a chance to be angry with him and tell him so. As comical as such a thing seemed for a woman who had no trouble telling anyone exactly what she felt the need to, Emma felt at a loss in his presence. The annoying attraction was still there…especially the way he looked now covered in sweat from the hard work he’d poured in. Even as he turned toward the cabins and the…amenities the area had to offer, Scott was speaking of his goals. A proposal, spoon fed to Emma Frost exactly the way a business woman like her would need hear it. Defeated she drew in a sigh. She would not get anywhere with her guard up. She’d forced him to bring his down for her once…and now it seemed he left her no choice. Her eyes lingered on the lake that the sun glittered on behind him.

”It looks quite good, and I trust that Zachariah has volunteered to assist with the survival classes? With so much space his tracking abilities will be needed if there are any problems and given that Wolverine is once again MIA, he’s our only option for the moment.” This wasn’t actually what she wanted to discuss but leave it to Emma to slip into the role of the great and powerful overseer. No. It wasn’t what she wanted. She let the sparkling water in the distance draw her eye again. She was a diamond, pristine and clear and concise.

”In the long run this could also be used as a safe location should the mansion become compromised. You have really out done yourself.” The compliment seemed dry coming from a woman that spoke the way she did but it was a compliment from the ice queen herself no less. ”The land looks healthy, the water clear, the woodwork sturdy. You’ve created quite the getaway…have you not?” Ice blue eyes confronted him then, a sadness and a hopefulness swirling within her piercing gaze. Emma knew he would feel her attempt to read him, but she had to know on that prompt if part of him was running from her, from any possibility of them. Was he creating excuses? Regardless, she brushed against his mind, tentative, but present.

Perhaps a sign of having known the woman was part of why he spoke the way he did about the project. The benefits and uses of the space that surrounded them hidden away from the world and the troubles of it. Sure it lacked the Danger Room and a number of other Technological Marvels secreted away within the depths of what was the Xavier Institute. But this place was not meant to be the mansion but rather a place for those within its walls to feel safe somewhere outside its walls.

”It looks quite good, and I trust that Zachariah has volunteered to assist with the survival classes? With so much space his tracking abilities will be needed if there are any problems and given that Wolverine is once again MIA, he’s our only option for the moment. ”The land looks healthy, the water clear, the woodwork sturdy. You’ve created quite the getaway…have you not?”

“It was not just me, though yes I feel that this place will benefit the school and the individuals within it.”

It was possible their was subtext that if she wanted to a night away from the mansion to simply relax and take a moment to herself would not be a bad thing. In addition to that was the fact that no one knew it was there or really who ran it only helped when it came to the mystique of the property. Though he was not thinking of the students as he noted her eyes staring at the water. He was sure that she had something to say just by the purse to her lips but yet she did not say it. He glanced at the water himself for a moment relishing memories that came with the thought, relaxing his guard almost to tempt the woman into peeking in as he remembered that moment of flying into the water... of that kiss so long ago in Italy.

It was not something he lingered on, something that he thought of and put asside not sure why he would think of it as he stared at the water. Perhaps he knew what he wanted from the woman that was there and he simply could not say the words. Could not admit the reality to it to her or even himself.

They stood in silence the both of them, their eyes on the lake...at least she could only assume his were. Everything that water reminded them of, the very idea of it sinking in and Emma was suprised to look on those fond memories of her own and find pain. Why could she think more clearly when he was gone? Why was it just easier to be frustrated with him and swear off him?

She'd brushed against his mind and was surprised to find that he'd let his guard down a bit. He'd done it on purpose. Her eyes shifted toward him questioning as she took the bait and she let her mind slide over his like silk. He was thinking of that same memory. Why wouldn't he just tell her? Why couldn't he just say he'd been thinking of her? She'd spent all this time convincing herself that he hadn't been. If he had he wouldn't have come up with the single most time consuming project to be far away on, right?

Shifting her mind from his once more she turned her face away, willing herself not to look at him. It was just easier in the end to close her eyes. Emma wanted to ask him why they danced around eachother like this. Why was it so hard to just be and be happy? As always she didn't. Always Emma Frost was a woman who got exactly what she wanted when she wanted it. She just went for it except when it came to him. "Yes." she replied dutifully in lue of the conversation at hand. "I'm sure all of this will be quite useful." A sigh could practically be heard in her voice, this quiet admission of defeat in her words. "I assume you have some sort of restroom figured out, also where and how do you store food? While I understand you would want the survival experience to be authentic, we may need some more modern amenties available for those of our students that find out in the lesson that they are not cut out for that world."

Scott Summers was not often one to dwell on the past on things that could have been and yet he was dwelling on what was rather than the future. He struggled with connections with those around him in any number of ways and to cope he buried himself in his work. It fractured his relationships with his brother, his nephew missed out on much and who else knew what his insecurities lead to in regards to his personal failures. As always though a tension seemed to linger whenever he was with her he could not explain it nor did he want to admit it to himself or her. Perhaps each of them had put in the amount of effort they had wanted to and could not go any farther than where they were. To admit to the other any level of emotion to admit to feeling something so human was something that seemed to stop him more often than any other.

"Yes. I'm sure all of this will be quite useful. I assume you have some sort of restroom figured out, also where and how do you store food? While I understand you would want the survival experience to be authentic, we may need some more modern amenties available for those of our students that find out in the lesson that they are not cut out for that world."

He glanced around happy at the design of the property for all intents and purposes it looked like it was just a group of cabins the were used for some kind of summer camp. Even Emma seemed to think just that as he glanced towards the building that had the camp leaders quarters.

“The central Cabin has a full kitchen in a room on the back side with commercial refrigeration and a freezer. Both of them are powered by a generator of Forge's design... It actually runs everything on site though it looks like we have a few solar panels and that is it.”

Scott replied no longer to stand still as he walked around what amounted to the base camp. The cabins each marked as for boys or girls. The main cabin that had a few additional rooms for staff and the kitchen off the back. He considered what he was doing and why he had wanted her to come out to this place. On the one hand she was like he was... a person that was married to their work avoiding connections and yet something existed between them. Something unspoken and yet he could not deny it. He had thought about it often of what they had the moments they had shared and no matter what it seemed that they always managed to step away from whatever it was. Fear perhaps or something more... always got in the way.

“I've been trying to figure us out...”

He muttered mostly to himself but loud enough that she would hear him anyway as he continued on.

Dutifully. Expertly even as always, Scott prattled on about the offered amenities and as each item rose to the surface of his mind she had the sensation of having a shopping list read to her. Everything checked out and the woman had no doubts that it would have regardless. The site was highly powered bu only appeared to run off of a few solar panels. It would not have suprised Emma in the least were she to learn they were standing over top of a good portion of the 'facilities' or more secrets of that nature. Scott was a resourceful man afterall.

The secret he did however share was one that she wasn't expecting at all. It drifted out of his mind like a cold breeze on a hot day. The blonde looked to him, the suprise in her eyes unsuccessfully hidden behind that business-like mask she carried. "Oh?...Have you?" what was supposed to disinterested sounded far more fragile than she'd meant for it to. Too pathetically hopeful. She detested it. "And what is it you believe you might have figured out?" Why couldn't she just speak her truth? Why couldn't she just hit him over the head with her needs from him and be with him and in turn be happy? Why was it never alright for her to need someone else?

Conciously the woman folded her arms over her abdomen. The urge to bark at him to get on with it was strong but she knew that wasn't the right course so she waited, shifting uncomfortably in her heels.

His words it seemed surprised her... was it that hard for her to believe that he thought of her... of them of what she meant to him. Did she honestly think that he did not wonder what it was that she wanted of him in those nights that they had spent together. Was it such a thing that he might wonder if she might want something more... Yet as he stared at the world and the things within it did he honestly deserve to feel any form of happiness when so much work needed to be done. The thoughts much like her troubled him more often than he wanted to admit and yet the driver was with the car and out here it was just the two of them. Away from the eyes of the students who wondered what existed between the headmaster and headmistress.

"And what is it you believe you might have figured out?"

Which was the problem neither of them really spoke about feelings, connections or anything beyond the strictly professional. Their was no conversation about such things even when they spent the night with each other it had always been a physical need that they felt was necessary. Yet their was always that spark that connection that never seemed to be satisfied between them. The looks at her when he thought she was not looking the moments that he longed for something more. Casual was not a thing that Scott desired... yet admitting that to a woman that was known to avoid anything beyond a casual dalliance was terrifying.

“That I am afraid,”

Which was the truth, he was afraid which was likely the single largest reson neither of them had admitted anything more than what things appeared to be. A partnership based on need rather than any emotional connection but now long could he lie to himself that such a thing was all he wanted. Truth was that despite all he did... how ever hard he worked at it he failed horribly at remaining at arms distance from everyone. This action is what likely caused much of his failings as a brother or a lover was that he could not just accept whatever it was and be what he was... He avoided more often than not.

He halted in his walk, his gaze falling upon her the distinct feeling of eye contact even through the glasses settling as he continued to speak considering grabbing a hand and pulling it from its place on her abdomen and yet he did not he only stared.

“That if I..., said the words I would lose you.”

Flashes through his mind of bodies each of the lovers he had once had Jean buried under a Lake, Madelyn dieing in his arms as he sent his son to live in some unknown future. Yet for all the pain that he felt the trials and tribulations he was still standing wondering if maybe their was a chance for him again. The broken man avoiding anything close to a real relationship for years and yet that was what he yearned for. A small flame not broken by the fear perhaps kindled by the intimate touches shared the quiet moments at night as the spoke and planned.

As without knowing they had gotten to see other parts of each other... Pieces others had never seen. It had been Scott that had offered her a place a purpose after her school had crumbled. It had been Scott that had attempted to help her rise... Who had irregardless of what was happening to himself had chosen to trust her and attempt to help her... why he could only guess but he had stood at her side... and perhaps he just wanted to admit it to himself to see her reaction... he did not really know anymore.

Afraid? Afraid!? Emma's gaze snapped toward Scott. Him?! The ever strong and stoic, the living epitome of the moral high ground was afraid of loss? Her painted lips fell open in disbelief. She looked positively stricken. It was the most cowardice she'd ever seen from him these last few years and frankly it disgusted her. She was beginning to think that she wasn't the only one chasing after him only to be left staring down an empty road left behind in the wake of this fear of his. With a stamp of her foot that turned her sideways, in one swift motion, Emma gave him a hard smack toward his cheek. She let her hand fall shaking to her side, tears welling in her eyes. She just couldn't stop them. Duty elsewhere, to others? She could respect that... but fear was what had stood in her way this whole time?

"Loss is part of what we are!" she snapped at him. "Our ability to cope with it is exactly what makes also human! So what then, Scott Summers, what is it you are teaching the students as an educator? As a man?! What is it you are teaching the next generation of mutants? We are not beings above loss!" her tears fell freely, her features twisted in anger and hurt. "And furthermore, if you are a man allowing fear to make your decisions for you, then you are certainly not the man I thought I've spent all this time waiting for, the man I thought I was falling in love with! You're a coward and a fool and all of THIS..." she gestured wildly toward the general campground area. "...was just an excuse! A resourceful, well thought excuse." she shook where she stood. Emma Frost simply did not have emotional outbursts. It wasn't a good look on her at all.

Fear was something that the man was used to, he had lived with it and understood it. It was when you no longer felt fear that you had to worry... Fear helped people to survive, knowing that helped many to exist and use fear in their lives. It allowed you to move and to think it made your heart beat when you would otherwise wish to stand and be frozen... Fear harnessed properly when understood was a precursor to action. So yes the man was afraid... not of the words but of what the woman before him could do to him.

He felt the slap the bite of flesh against his face and he let it slap his face to the side. No tears fell and he could feel the fears and questions roiling in the depths of his mind. Wondering always questioning the steps he planned to make. She should know and understand that he never did anything without thinking it through. Without a purpose, he was one of the more clinical members of the X-Men it was why he often served as a field leader... he could think through the fears and chaos of battle to bring people home. So he listened to her words, let them wash over him. He watched the tears not angry, accepting that it was his words had caused this. He did not reach out for her. His hands still at his side no hurt crossing his face as he stared at her.

"Loss is part of what we are! Our ability to cope with it is exactly what makes also human! So what then, Scott Summers, what us it you are teaching the students as an educator? As a man?! What is it you are teaching the next generation if mutants? We are not beings above loss! You're a coward and a fool and all of THIS... was just an excuse! A resourceful, well thought excuse."

“Agreed, I have Lost enough in my life to cherish that which I have... I didn't want us to change... Yet change we did and here you are with me telling me that you thought you were falling in love with me...”

He stepped forward a single step, controlled and placid his eyes hidden and yet holding hers carefully. Focusing he took a deep breath steeling himself to it as he took the fields projected by his body and manipulated them. He felt the strain the feel of working a muscle that was not used to being used though he did spend a small portion of his time training in this whenever he could. He felt the energy cut out as he pulled the glasses down to stare at Emma, not colored in the normal red haze but vibrant and full of life.

“and I'm telling you I'm tired of us both denying what we mean to the other... Do you honestly think I would have offered to let you run the mansion, risk the ire of other Xmen if I did not care for you... If I did not want you close.”

It was then that he reached his empty hand up to attempt to brush away the tears not sure whether she was going to slap him again, run or who knew what else she might do or say... but he had said it... that he was tired of the game between them that he wanted it on the table in the open and no longer some hidden thing between them. He wanted those moments he had reminded her of to remain to continue to be enjoyed and to be spread... at the end of the day the mansion existed to make life better for mutant to make them safer and he could not take a moment to have what he wanted and worked for... then why do it... why work so hard if in the end you were alone.

Emma Frost

Ever the damn stoic and silent. The slap didn’t even seem to phase him. She might as well have slapped the surface of water for all the good it did her. She was smacking him because she deemed him a fool, the words she spat in her anger biting and lashing worse than any physical hit she could ever deliver to his tightened jaw. He spoke in response, his tone just as careful and controlled as always and Emma’s cheeks went aflame in embarrassment. He agreed with her. He’d lost enough to cherish what he had and he was afraid to lose what they already had if it were at the behest of trying and failing at something more. The problem was that without either of them putting the effort in, they were changing. She was falling in love with him. She’d said those words. Not him. God she was the fool and the realization settled in her stomach like a rock she’d somehow managed to swallow.

Scott stepped toward her and her chin raised slightly as she swallowed hard. Slowly she let her tearfilled gaze lift toward his ruby glasses. She could only ever make out the shape of his eyes behind them, but she could feel something different in his surface thoughts, an acceptance she’d never imagined she’d feel from. Her eyes widened as his fingers moved to pull his glasses down and out of the way. She could still see it, the energy there in his eyes illuminating them, but they were his eyes. She was seeing his eyes and he was the one willing it to be so. Emma was seeing him. How long had he worked to make this possible?

He was telling her these things because he didn’t want to deny what they meant to eachother anymore. He wouldn’t have asked her for her help in running the day to day of the mansion if he didn’t trust her…if he didn’t want her close. Part of her felt a sting from that. She was the only one at the mansion with the inarguably useful ability to run Cerebro and she was an entrepreneur with a great deal of success to her name, mutant or otherwise. Emma Frost knew how to get things done. For Scott to admit that most of his reasoning for asking her to help him was selfish was an admittance she wasn’t sure what to make of. His hand rose to brush away the tears gathered over her cheeks. He didn’t want to deny what they meant to eachother anymore? That meant the ball was in her court. The next move was hers and every other horrid cliché one could think of that might come with that. Then came Emma’s nasty little secret. Her eyes fell to a close and she leaned her face into his hand. ”I suppose I’m afraid too.” she admitted shakily. ”I’ve managed to condition myself to believe that there is a limit to the happiness I am allowed to indulge in…and to convince myself that you are a prime of example of what is too good for me.”

It was a different thing to stare at the world no longer coated with the shades of red that burnished the world when he wore the glasses that were now in his hands. His other hand touching lightly on her face to wipe the tears attempting to blemish her face. Not that it ruined his vision of her, it only showed that she was able to be open with him. That she could stop being the White Queen for a few moments to just be Emma. It was something rare for the woman before him, yet of those that were permitted in her presence Scott had likely seen it more than most.

”I suppose I’m afraid too. I’ve managed to condition myself to believe that there is a limit to the happiness I am allowed to indulge in…and to convince myself that you are a prime of example of what is too good for me.”

As she spoke, her eyes closed as if looking as if it was hard enough to admit her words to him. But their was something about it the way she accepted it. That she seemed to accept and almost lean into the touch. This was something neither had ever been able to admit to. Having some kind of Emotional desire beyond what was easy. Which was truth it was easier to have something without the emotions as if it failed you did not hurt and yet could either admit that they felt nothing this whole time when the facts as they stood showed that such was a lie. How often had they reacted to something connected to the other due to emotion rather than what was needed for the school or the team.

It was telling in her belief that he was to good for her and yet in his own that he would never measure up to what she expected in a person she wanted to be with. Yet it was in this moment that he felt that some measure of admittance had been found that they were no longer avoiding what they felt... at least in that moment who knew what might take hold back at the mansion when the eyes were back on them but then Scott was not one to ignore a person if he wanted to spend time with them and he had spent all to much time avoiding connection. Avoiding being a person and that did in fact need to change in some manner. Ever so slowly his hand shifted to brush his fingers lightly to her lips and to lift her chin. Leaning closer he offered words whispered.

“I think I won't run from it this time.”

Light words in the middle of the forest, away even from the prying eyes of the driver in the car. His lips met her's taking in her scent and the feel of it. Something felt different about this time than any other time thought. Before the touch of her had always felt like something to be afraid of and now he was not rather he wanted this. Wanted her to want this.
